Chapter 1. General Provisions
Article 1 (Name) The official name of this center shall be the Smart Image Content Research Center (hereafter referred to as “the Center”), affiliated with Chung-Ang University.
Article 2 (Purposes) The purposes of the Center are as follows:
1. To lead advanced research and production in smart-image content convergence; to serve as a global hub; and to play a pioneering role in establishing collaborative production and research systems with leading content-producing countries. Through international cooperation, the Center promotes future-oriented convergence research and contributes to the global expansion of Korean Wave content by transforming it into globally competitive creative content.
2. To serve as a base for convergence research by establishing an integrated system encompassing the planning, research, development, production, and reinvestment of smart-image content; to develop and implement joint research programs with leading overseas universities; and to publish international English-language academic journals.
3. To build an industry–academia-research network and conduct project-based research applicable to the content industry; and to promote the industrial application and dissemination of research outcomes.
4. To disseminate accumulated research expertise in smart-image content and foster creative production techniques; and to lead the development of globally competitive next-generation content.
Article 3 (Projects) To fulfill its research and development purposes, the Center shall undertake the following projects:
1. Conduct theoretical research in convergence fields related to smart-image content
2. Establish industry–academia-research networks and conduct collaborative research
3. Promote domestic and international academic exchange; organize seminars and conferences; and publish international English-language academic journals
4. Develop educational programs related to smart-image content and cultivate research personnel
5. Attract research projects and support their implementation
6. Undertake other projects related to the Center’s stated purposes
Chapter 2. Organization and Officers
Article 4 (Organization) The Center shall have an Operations Committee and an Editorial Committee.
Article 5 (Officers)
① The Center shall be led by a Director, who represents the Center and oversees all operations.
② The Director shall be appointed by the President of the University, based on the recommendation of the Operations Committee and with the approval of the Dean of Research.
③ To enhance operational efficiency, the Director may appoint the following officers: Auditor, Planning Director, Research Director, Editorial Director, Public Relations (PR) Director, and International Affairs Director.
④ Officers of the Center shall be appointed by the Director.
⑤ The term of office for officers shall be two years and may be renewed once.
Chapter 3. Researchers
Article 6 (Researchers)
① The Center may comprise Research Committee Members, Senior Researchers, Researchers, and Visiting Research Committee Members.
② The Principal Investigator shall, in principle, be the Director of the Center; however, exceptions may be permitted with the Director’s approval.
③ Matters related to the operation and management of researchers shall be governed by the “Operational Guidelines for Researchers of Affiliated Research Centers.”
Chapter 4. Committees
Article 7 (Operations Committee)
① The Operations Committee shall deliberate on major matters related to the operation of the Center.
② The Committee shall comprise Research Committee Members and shall be chaired by the Director.
③ The Committee shall deliberate on the following matters:
1. Budget planning and settlement of accounts
2. Development plans and long-term research strategies
3. Enactment and revision of the Center’s regulations
4. Selection and evaluation of research projects
5. Organization of research presentations and lectures
6. Other major matters necessary for the operation of the Center
④ The Committee shall be convened at the request of five or more members or at the discretion of the Director.
⑤ A quorum shall comprise two-thirds of the committee members, and resolutions shall require a majority vote of those present.
Article 8 (Editorial Committee)
① The Editorial Committee shall deliberate on matters related to the editing and review of academic journals and other publications issued by the Center.
② The Committee shall comprise an Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Committee Members.
③ Editorial Committee Members shall be appointed by the Director upon recommendation of the Editor-in-Chief.
Chapter 5. Finance
Article 9 (Finance) The Center’s operating expenses shall be covered by research funds, project revenues, donations, university subsidies, and other sources.
Chapter 6. Dissolution
Article 10 (Dissolution) In the event of dissolution, the Center’s assets shall be transferred to Chung-Ang University.
Chapter 7. Supplementary Provisions
Article 11 (Miscellaneous) Matters not specified in these regulations shall be governed by the “Regulations on the Establishment and Operation of Affiliated Research Centers.”
Supplementary Provisions
① (Effective Date) These regulations shall take effect on the date of promulgation (June 15, 2022).
② (Transitional Measures) Matters related to the Center’s operations prior to the enforcement of these regulations shall be governed by the Center’s previously established internal regulations.
